1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL 4-Speed
This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is said to have been purchased by the seller’s parents in 1968 and stored from 2009 until 2020. Subsequent recommissioning included an overhaul of the fuel system and replacement of the valve cover gasket, clutch cylinders, transmission mount, belts, battery, rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes, and tires.
The car is finished in Signal Red over a gray interior and is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a gray hardtop, 14” steel wheels, and a Becker push-button radio. This W113 is now offered with a car cover, spare soft top fabric, a tool roll, partial service records, and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Signal Red (568) and received a repaint during the 1970s, reportedly following an accident that resulted in damage to the front right of the vehicle. Exterior features include an Arabian Gray (124) removable hardtop, US-spec headlights, a driver-side mirror, a manual antenna, and split rear bumpers. Chipping and cracks in the paint are evident in addition to a dent on the rear bumper, a chip in the right taillight lens, and dents in the doors. Rust is noted around a lower-rear quarter panel, and the seller states that the soft top is in need of replacement, though a spare beige fabric top is included in the sale.
